 I got a chance to speak with Priyanka from the podcast show, Sit Still, Look PRI-TEA! It was my first time being interviewed for a podcast and I was so thrilled!
 பெண்ணின் மாதவிடாய் அனுபவத்தைப் பற்றிய ‘ஸ்ட்ராபெர்ரி கேர்ல்ஸ்’
இந்தியப் பண்பாட்டில், ஒரு பதின்ம வயதுப் பெண்ணுக்கு முதல்முறையாக மாதவிடாய் ஏற்படுவது பல குடும்பங்களில் விழாவாகக் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. குறிப்பாக, தமிழர் பண்பாட்டில் அதைச் ‘சடங்கு’ அல்லது ‘மஞ்சள் நீராட்டு விழா’ என்று அழைப்பது உண்டு. இதுவே ‘ஸ்ட்ராபெர்ரி கேர்ல்ஸ்’ என்ற நாடகத்தின் மையப் பொருளாகும். நாடகத்தில் மொத்தம் மூன்று கதாபாத்திரங்கள் இடம்பெறுகின்றனர். 13 வயது விமிஷா, தாயார் சோனியா, பாட்டி கல்யாணி. விமிஷாவுக்கு முதல்முறையாக மாதவிடாய் ஏற்பட்டபோது, அதை எவ்வாறு அவர்கள் மூவரும் சமாளித்தார்கள் என்பதைச் சுற்றி கதை நகர்கிறது.  Looking in from the outside, most success stories don’t start with failures. Aswani Aswath, a fresh graduate of the MA Creative Writing programme at LASALLE, tells a different tale.
“To be honest, my motivation to enrol in LASALLE came from a place of failure. My first play in Tamil had garnered some harsh feedback from industry practitioners. That led me to reflect on my skills and how I wanted to grow as a writer. Back then, I lacked the right vocabulary to think critically about my craft and relied solely on my gut and emotions,” Aswani shares.  Photo by Asnur Asman As such, If These Wheels Could Speak takes advantage of its Zoom platform to flit between fantasy and real life, not only with how it portrays Natasha, but even crafting a Wizard of Oz inspired scene, or a ‘courtroom trial’ to determine how much Natasha’s friends are to blame for an accident in school, both of which are testament to Natasha’s vivid imagination in spite of her condition.
